Labor Day Bike Ride! September 3, 2012 |
|||
|
Eighth
Annual Pullman Labor Day Bike Ride Historic Pullman, the original company town built
by George Pullman in the 1880s to house the workers at his Palace Car factory, is a significant part of the rich Chicago southside
labor history. Hosted by Pullman's strong civic and cultural organizations, the seventh annual Pullman Labor Day Bike
Ride will be on September3, 2012. Appropriately
held on Labor Day, our ride's theme honors the important role labor unions have played in Pullman and the Calumet region. The
bike ride has been a huge success these past seven years thanks to our contributors and riders.
All proceeds from the ride go towards expenses and a celebration by the historic Hotel Florence in Pullman at the conclusion of the 30 mile course. Lunch and a labor history program will be a part of the festivities, with appropriate speakers for the occasion. Help to continue the tradition of honoring labor in the region of Pullman, where labor history was made during the infancy of the movement. Monday September 3, 2012 A very special thank you to all of our contributors, volunteers and all the riders who made past rides memorable.
